India Urges Iran, Israel to Reduce Tensions, Pursue Diplomacy
In a statement, the Indian Foreign Ministry expressed “deep regret” over the latest attacks and cautioned about their wider humanitarian and economic repercussions.
Describing the situation as a major global concern, the ministry said: “These developments are a matter of utmost concern to the international community.”
It noted that the conflict “has already caused immense human suffering” and said the ongoing hostilities have had a “debilitating impact on the global economy and energy supplies.”
The ministry further urged restraint, stating: “We call on all parties to immediately de-escalate tensions, ensure that civilians are not harmed and conclude ongoing negotiations for a diplomatic solution so that peace and stability can return to the region.”
India’s remarks came after Iran launched multiple missile barrages toward northern Israel late Sunday, following an Israeli airstrike on Beirut’s southern suburbs. Israel said the strike targeted a Hezbollah command and planning center in Lebanon.
